Hester & David’s Baby Shower Weekend

My cousin Hester and her husband David are pregnant with Finn who is due in June. It has become tradition for us to have a big family get-together at my Uncle Stokely and Aunt Sylvia’s house near Columbia, SC. Hester is adorably pregnant and David is humorously acting the part of uninformed dad-to-be. (I don’t believe it for one minute, though!) Alison had a show on the same time in Georgia, so Emma Kate and I drove up and stayed at my parents house. Here are a few pictures from the shower and the rest of the weekend.

Hot Air Balloon

Early one evening we went out back to visit the neighbor’s horses. Emma Kate loves to visit them, but we don’t visit them often. On this particular day there happened to be two hot air balloons taking off across the street from us. Emma Kate was soooo excited. What a great day - feeding horses and watching hot air balloons fly over your house!

Alison had a few days off school for spring break, so she decided to take a quick road trip to Lenoir City and Knoxville so that her family could spend some time with Emma Kate.

Jadon’s Birthday Party Weekend

There were so many photos of the party, that I really had to separate the others from the weekend. We stayed at my parents house in South Carolina, which means that Emma Kate spent most of her waking moments with Grandpa. Besides the time outside and in the bath at Grandma and Grandpa’s house, we also spent some time at Uncle Jay & Aunt Donette’s land and partially finished new home. Emma Kate was surprisingly terrified of a fish that was caught on the shore of the pond. The pictures are proof!

Jadon’s 3rd Birthday Party

Jadon, Emma Kate’s cousin, had his 3rd birthday party at a gym in Lexington, SC. Emma Kate (as well as most of the other kids) absolutely loved jumping and running and falling! I think her favorite was the big blowup boxing rink looking thing, though she was also fond of the trampoline! Happy Birthday, Jadon!

Emma Kate’s 1st Haircut

If I were asked 2 years ago if a child’s first haircut is a big deal, I would have asked if you were crazy. Now I know better. It was kind of funny (and unexpected) that Alison would want to get Emma Kate’s haircut, and I was the one wanting to postpone it as long as possible. It only lasted 5 minutes and Emma Kate was a doll, but it was odd/hard to see her curls come off. She’s not old enough for this!
